Patient Who Suffer From Migraines More Inclined To Have Depression
Patient with headache, in particular migraines, are more inclined to suffer from depression, feel weary, and have a host of other austere physical symptoms, according to a medical investigation published in the January 9, 2007, issue of Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology.
The medical study involved 1090 patients who buy cymbalta online at headache clinics in five countries. Of the patients surveyed, 871 reported incidental headache (fewer than 15 headaches per month) and 439 had chronic headache. Ninety percent/% of the woman were tested with migraines.
The medical research found patients with chronic headache were four times more prone than those with incidental headache to report symptoms of major Depression. Chronic headache sufferers were also six times more likely to report a high degree of symptoms linked to headache, pain or puzzle during intercourse.
Among women diagnosed with severely disabling migraine, the study found the likelihood of major Psychotic Depression increased 32-fold if the woman also reported other severe symptoms.
“Painful physical symptoms will incite or be a manifestation of major Manic Depression in woman with chronic headache, which can be treated if you buy maxalt and Major Depression would heighten pain perception,” said clinical trial author Gretchen Tietjen, MD with the University of Toledo-Health Science Campus and a member of the American Academy of Neurology. “This relation between migraine and major Major Depression suggests a frequent neurobiology.”
Tietjen says clinical research are underway to test whether severe headache, severe physical symptoms and major Atypical Depression should be linked through dysfunction of serotonin in the central nervous system.
“Careless of what’s causing the link between migraine and Depression, psychiatric sickness such as Psychotic Depression complicates headache treatment and can stir up poorer results for headache treatment,” said Tietjen.
The medical trial was helped, in part, by the American Headache Society, which estimates 18 million American patient suffer from headache.
The American Academy of Neurology, an association of more than 17000 neurologists and neuroscience professionals, is dedicated to making better people care through enlightenment and medical study. A neurologist is a surgeon specialized on diagnosing, curing and managing diseases of the brain and nervous system such as blow, Alzheimer’s disorder, epilepsy, Parkinson disease, and frequent sclerosis.
